Privacy Policy.

1. Introduction
Bytes & Pixels (Pty) Ltd ("we", "our" or "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit bytespixels.co.za or correspond with us, how we use it, and the rights you have over it — in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 ("POPIA") and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, 2002 ("ECT Act").
The short version: this is a brochure website. We don't run analytics, we don't set cookies, and the only personal information we hold is what you choose to send us by email.
2. Information Officer
For the purposes of POPIA, our Information Officer is responsible for data protection queries and data subject requests:
- Information Officer: Lené Kriel
- Email: lene@bytespixels.co.za
- Location: Cape Town, South Africa
3. Information we collect
3.1 Information you give us
When you contact us by email, we receive whatever you include — typically your name, email address, company, and details about your project. If we go on to work together, we will also hold the information reasonably required to deliver the engagement and invoice for it.
3.2 Information collected automatically
We do not use analytics or tracking cookies. However, two third-party services are involved in serving this website, and each technically receives your IP address:
- Vercel (our hosting provider) keeps standard server logs — IP address, browser type, pages requested — for security and operations.
- Adobe Fonts serves the typefaces on this site. Your browser requests font files from Adobe's servers, which involves disclosing your IP address to Adobe. Adobe states it does not set cookies for font serving.
4. How we use your information
- To respond to enquiries and correspond about projects;
- To deliver services and administer client engagements;
- To meet legal obligations (e.g. tax and accounting records);
- To keep the website secure and operational.
We process personal information on the POPIA grounds of consent (you contacted us), performance of a contract, and our legitimate interests in running the business. We do not sell personal information, send unsolicited marketing, or use automated decision-making.
5. Sharing
We share personal information only with the service providers that make our operations possible — hosting (Vercel), fonts (Adobe), and email — and where the law requires it. Some of these providers process data outside South Africa (for example, in the United States); where they do, the transfer is covered by the provider's standard data-protection terms as contemplated by section 72 of POPIA.
6. Retention & security
We keep correspondence for as long as needed to handle your enquiry or engagement, and records we are legally required to retain (e.g. invoices) for the prescribed periods. We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the information we hold.
7. Your rights
Under POPIA you may, at any time:
- ask what personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct or delete it;
- object to our processing of it;
- lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa (enquiries@inforegulator.org.za).
To exercise any of these rights, email lene@bytespixels.co.za — we'll respond within a reasonable time, and at most within the periods POPIA prescribes.
8. Changes to this policy
If our data practices change — for example, if we add analytics or a contact form — we will update this page and the "last updated" date above.
